Premier League Liverpool FC vs Southampton FC

Hardly any team in Europe is better these days than Liverpool. After two intoxicating victories against top opponents now waiting for the comparatively sad League daily. A problem?

On paper, it seems clear: Liverpool, the English Premier League leaders, welcome Southampton FC, who are currently ranked 13th. If the Reds can even begin to build on their recent achievements, a victory seems guaranteed. Only heavy legs could endanger him.

Interesting odds & tip

The bookies agree: Liverpool is the clear favorite on Saturday. The problem: Rewarding the likely success of the Reds barely, the quotas are well below the value limit.

But do not worry: the poor returns can be improved. Take Liverpool’s offensive power, for example, would be the goal bet, for example. After the Reds themselves have managed to score at least two goals against the world-class defensive lines of PSG and Tottenham, the same feat can be expected even against the poor defense of the Saints.

But even more profitable is the combination of goal and Gegentor considerations. Liverpool’s defensive has been stabilizing for some time virtually on a weekly basis. In the meantime, she has reached a level (especially at home) that makes it possible to win against Southampton opponents without hesitation – as did Crystal Palace, West Ham or Brighton.

It can not be talked away: The Liverpool FC has arrived in the round of football heavyweight. Or. returned. Although the team had already reached the Champions League Final last season, not a few observers had recorded this success as a “one hit wonder”. Now that a summer has gone into the country, including the World Cup, the time had come for the Reds to once again prove their own strength. So far this has undoubtedly been successful.

Granted, the Reds’ kick-off program was relatively feasible. On the first day relegation candidate West Ham was a guest at Anfield and proved to be inferior outsiders. With a 4-0 pack, the Reds sent the underdog home and celebrated a more than successful entry. This was followed by two work wins against Crystal Palace and Brighton, in which the team did not playfully tears of joy, but knew to impress in its tactical maturity quite.

In a real euphoria, however, the Reds relocated their fan base only last week. The first team to join Liverpool in the all-redesigned White Hart Lane – and miss the Tottenham Hotspur the debut thoroughly: With a deserved 2-1 victory and the next three points left the Reds from the English capital.

Immediately followed by the next school leaving exam, and also the team passed with flying colors: At the start of the Champions League season Liverpool beat no one less than title candidate Paris St. Germain, which Jürgen Klopp decided the German coach duel with Thomas Tuchel for themselves. The hard-fought game could have been a bit different, but Roberto Firmino ultimately decided the game in stoppage time in favor of the Reds.

Their impressive victory run the Liverpooler thus continued – despite high-profile competitor. The status of the one-hit-Wonders, the team thus at least since last week raptured: the Liverpool will have a say in the title this year, too. Opponents like FC Southampton should not cause any real problems there.

Possible line-up Liverpool FC

Personally, after the emotional Champions League kick-off, the question arises first of all whether coach Klopp will revolve in the face of tired legs or whether his tribe formation will continue to fill up with confidence. On the defensive, which seems assured, nothing is likely to change. In the midfield center, however, Klopp could reload with Naby Keita, offensive with Xherdan Shaqiri or winner goalkeeper Roberto Firmino

Alisson – Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson – Wijnaldum, J. Henderson, Keita – M. Salah, Firmino, S. Mané

The Brighton Festival is over. After two duels against the Seagulls within three weeks, the look of FC Southampton faces forward – and sees thunderclouds appear. Because after the team in the first weeks of the season hardly defeated well-known opponents, the upcoming game against Liverpool is only the prelude of a series of games against top teams. Everton, Chelsea, ManCity, ManUnited, Tottenham and Arsenal are all waiting in the next two months, a tidy program that can only be done with a healthy dose of self-confidence.

Therefore, especially the game against Liverpool is of particular importance. A hefty defeat the Reds would let the confidence dwindle even before the difficult weeks have really begun. On the other hand, a respectable performance could unleash unforeseen forces. Real hopes, however, the Saints can not draw from the past few weeks. But the results were too mau.

Burnley had lost 0-0 on Matchday 1 before beating FC Everton 2-1. In the following week, the result against Leicester was the same, making the false start was perfect: three games, two goals, one point.

But with the beginning of the “Brighton Festival” the situation eased. In the League Cup they drove against the Seagulls the first win of the season, on the fourth Premier League matchday then the first three points in the league. In the second clash with Brighton they wanted to finally build on the 2-0 victory against Palace, but despite a 2-0 lead, the team had to settle for a point-sharing.

Overall, that’s not enough to characterize the Saints as a serious opponent for Liverpool-class teams. Especially defensive coach Hughes will have to find solutions, otherwise it could be dark for Southampton at Anfield.

Possible line-up FC Southampton

The starting line-up of the Saints has barely changed in recent weeks, even the systemics. Although Liverpool is by far the strongest opponent of the season so far, Hughes is unlikely to be able to defend his team in a more defensive manner. The following formation seems conceivable:

McCarthy – Cedric, Vestergaard, Hoedt, Betrand – M. Elyounoussi, Lemina, Hojbjerg, Redmond – S. Long, Ings

Betting Tips: Liverpool wins to zero
Odds: 1.86
