Palmeiras – Ponte Preta PREDICTION (19.10.2017)

Still with an interim coach, Palmeiras will face Ponte Preta on Thursday, October 19, in a match for the twenty-ninth round of the Brazilian Championship in its 2017 season. With Allianz Park rented for other events, the Alviverde will host the Macaca at Pacaembu. The confrontation begins scheduled for 20h (Brasília time).

The recent performance of Palmeiras

The preparation for the match, however, was the least talked about subject in Palmeiras during the week. Even after a 3-1 win in Goiânia on Sunday, October 15, against Atlético-GO, who kept hopes of winning the title, preparation for the 2018 season was the main theme of all the conversations involving the hats.
One of the goals of the management is to hire coach Mano Menezes, who negotiates the renewal of his contract with Cruzeiro. If he does not reach the agreement with the mining team, according to the news, most likely the coach would close with Palmeiras.
Even if that does not happen, the board does not signalize having intentions to promote Alberto Valentin, who took office last week after Cuca was dismissed as an effective coach. Roger Machado, former Atlético-MG and Grêmio, appears as the second option in case Mano Menezes decides to remain in Belo Horizonte.
But the team’s command was not the only topic of discussion at Palmeiras. The season of speculation for hirings and layoffs aimed at next year has begun. In this case, Lucas Lima is the biggest object of the desire of the men and Roger Guedes the chosen one to command the boat of dispensations.
Amid this central rumor, Valentin must maintain on Thursday the strategy of the game and the line used to defeat the red-black Goianiense. That means Keno, who is the scorer of all three goals, should be in the lead. The only problem is that the player left the lawn in Goiânia with muscle pains. Thus, its escalation ends up being conditioned to a new evaluation of the medical department.
With Keno, the interim coach chose not to play with a fixed forward. He opted to put the midfielder William Bigode in the function leaving aside expensive signings made by the club like Colombian Borja and Deyverson.

The current form of Ponte Preta

The Macaca did not enter the field at the end of the week. The match for Ponte Preta for the twenty-eighth round had been anticipated for the qualifying rounds for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The team faced Cruzeiro in Belo Horizonte, came out ahead of the scorer but took the turn by 2 to 1.
Without scoring, he ended up seeing rivals close to the overtaking leaving the team alvinegra of Campinas in the relegation zone at the end of the day. With 32 points (eight wins, eight draws and 12 losses) Ponte Preta opened the round of number 29 in the seventeenth position.
The period without games was used by coach Eduardo Baptista to test options of escalation. Rodrigo and Elton, for example, were used in the vacancies of Luan Peres and Fernando Bob, who, suspended, will not be able to face Palmeiras.
He also tested substitutes for striker Emerson Sheik and right-back Nino Paraíba, who with pains could not participate in all training. They will go through further tests to see if they will be available, but if they are vetoed, they will assign seats to Maranhão and Emerson, respectively. The trend, however, is that both may be on the field on Wednesday.
There is also hope that Wendel and Renato Cajá, in the final stretch of injury recovery, will be released to act. If they receive the green light, they tend to be related to the reservation bank.
