ATP launches arena with virtual tennis matches

With tennis games suspended, ATP and IMG launch a virtual tennis product that could be of interest to bookmakers. In order to fill the void of live sport, ATP and IMG have formed an alliance to create a virtual tennis game comprising the nine Master 1000 tournaments and the four Grand Slams.

ATP LAUNCHES ARENA WITH VIRTUAL TENNIS MATCHES

Like the official ATP Tour brand stamp, they aim to “help sports betting partners fill the void while the Circuit is suspended due to the health emergency caused by the coronavirus”. Levels of professional tennis for men are suspended until at least June 7th. However, this virtual product could leverage the sports betting market.

While it is still unclear whether bookmakers will bet on virtual games, or what types of markets they would offer if lucky gambling operators decide to do so, news of the ATP brand product appears to be positive at a time when that organizations of all sports resort to virtual simulations in the absence of live action.

THE VOICES OF IMG AND ATP

“ATP Media shares the desire to evolve the way its fans could connect with tennis. As with all of our virtual sports offerings, we develop the most realistic look, feel and betting experience ”, said Freddie Longe, managing director of IMG Arena.

On the other hand, Mark Webster, CEP of ATP Media, expressed: “This is a historic agreement for ATP Media at a difficult time. We are excited to be able to work with IMG Arena to offer fans an innovative offer and new ways to enjoy their favorite tournaments ”.

“We have created a product that will boost and diversify our sports betting offer, and will help us to continue to develop internationally,” added the CEO.
