When the football leagues in Europe start again!
The most likely scenarios for the restart of the main European leagues, Serie A, Premier League, Liga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1
Many sports federations have noted that it is not possible to hypothesize a recovery for this season and have canceled it, as we have already seen with basketball. The reason, in addition to the difficulties of bringing the players back to Italy, is the awareness that playing at least in the first phase behind closed doors would involve doing it at a loss since the sale of tickets derives a large part of the revenues. An economic contingency that does not apply to football, which is closely linked to television rights. This is the reason why UEFA and national leagues are trying in every way to complete the various championships and cups, which in the intentions of the European body will be concluded after the end of the various championships. Of course, with the Coronavirus situation different from country to country, the dates of a possible restart are also staggered. These are currently the general indications of the main European championships. The dates are purely indicative and represent hypothetical calendar junctions hypothesized by the various federations but without any guarantee on feasibility.
Serie A
Possible restart: May 23-24, May 30-31, June 6-7
They are filtered by the League, but the hypotheses of restarting in May are objectively utopian. Probably the first weekend of June, but more realistically the last one, represents the possibility at the most probable moment. The clubs will try to bring the players back by April to start accurate medical tests and will try to get the possibility from the government to start training again in May, in an initial phase probably contingent as is the case for the German teams.
Bundesliga
Possible restart: 2-3 May, 9-10 May
We have seen that the Bundesliga could be the first championship to restart and in fact the German teams are already at work even if in small groups. The hypothesis of a restart already at the beginning of May is perhaps optimistic but that of 9 and 10 May could be a credible indication if the situation related to the coronavirus will remain under control and the intent of the DLF is that.
Premier League
Possible restart: June
No specific dates were hypothesized after it was initially thought to start again in early May, an unsustainable hypothesis given that at the moment the situation in the United Kingdom is among the most chaotic in Europe. The English clubs will try to start training again in the middle of May at best but the Premier could be among the last leagues to restart if there really was a restart.
Liga
Possible restart: May 28, June 6, June 28
Even in Spain the situation is chaotic but the Spanish League has however foreseen three hypotheses of restart, with May 6 seeming unrealistic, June 6 optimistic and June 28 more plausible. Training should resume in May and players will be notified 72 hours before the call to be tested. There was also talk of a 15-day preseason and the possibility of playing all the remaining matches in the Canaries, a scenario currently rejected by the clubs.
Ligue 1
Possible restart: end of June
Ligue 1 has not yet drawn up a timetable for the restart and at the moment there is no general scenario since the initial goal of closing the season by June 15 is difficult to achieve. Even the French teams are not currently pushing for the resumption of training and the situation is made even more complicated by the battle between the French League and Canal Plus which suspended payments during the pause phase of the championship.
